Scripture: Revelation 20:1–3

“He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.” — Revelation 20:2

One of the most encouraging truths in Revelation 20 is also one of the simplest: Satan is not God’s equal.

John sees an angel come down from heaven with a key and a great chain. The angel seizes Satan, binds him, throws him into the Abyss, and seals it shut. Notice something important—the angel is not identified as Michael or Gabriel. He is simply an angel acting under the authority of God.

Satan may be powerful, deceptive, and dangerous, but he is still a created being. He operates only within the limits God allows.

That means we never need to live as though evil has the final word.

There may be times when temptation seems overwhelming. There may be moments when evil appears to be winning. There may be circumstances when we wonder why God doesn't simply intervene and stop everything.

But Revelation reminds us that God has never surrendered control.

Even Satan's activity exists under God's sovereign authority.

That should change the way we face spiritual battles. We don't fight for victory as though the outcome is uncertain. We fight from the confidence that Christ has already secured the ultimate victory.

The enemy wants you frightened, discouraged, distracted, and defeated. God calls you to stand firm.

Don't give Satan more authority in your mind than Scripture gives him.

 Where have I allowed fear of Satan, temptation, circumstances, or evil to become greater than my confidence in God's authority?

Prayer:
 Father, thank You that You are sovereign over all things. Remind me today that Satan is not Your equal and that evil will never have the final word. Give me courage to stand firm, wisdom to recognize temptation, and faith to trust Your authority. Help me keep my eyes on Jesus rather than the enemy. In Jesus' name, amen.
