What is Christ Worth to Me?

Scripture: Matthew 19:21–22

“Then come, follow me.”

The rich young ruler came to Jesus with a serious question: “What must I do to have eternal life?”

He appeared to be a good man. He had followed the commandments. But Jesus knew something the man didn't fully understand about himself.

There was something he loved more than he loved God.

Jesus told him to sell his possessions, give to the poor, and follow Him. The man walked away sorrowful because he had great wealth.

Flee From Idolatry!

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:14

“Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.”

When we hear the word idolatry, we may picture a golden statue sitting on an altar. But idols don't always look like that.

An idol is anything that takes the place that belongs to God.

During the Sunday message, Pastor Ted pointed out that modern idols can take many forms. Something as ordinary as entertainment, possessions, money, hobbies, or technology can become an idol when it receives more of

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:5, 11–13

“Therefore let the one who thinks he stands watch out that he will not fall.”

Israel had something many people say they wish they had: visible evidence of God's presence. God led them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. He provided food. He delivered them from Egypt. He protected them.

Yet they still rebelled.

Pastor Ted made a powerful observation during our Sunday message: God was right there, yet they rebelled.

The problem

God Is Greater Than Evil

Scripture: Revelation 20:1–3

“He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.”

Revelation 20 begins with a remarkable picture of God’s authority. Satan—the deceiver, the accuser, the enemy of God’s people—is seized, bound, and confined. John does not describe some cosmic struggle in which God barely manages to overcome His enemy. An angel simply carries out God’s command.

Pastor Ted emphasized the significance of tha

Hold the Line! Don't Bury the Hope!

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:58

We end this week where Paul closes his great defense of the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15:58:

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

Last Sunday, we were left with a charge that should ring in our ears all weekend long: We hold that message of hope. Don't bury it.

In a world that feels like it is collapsing, the darkness wants you

We Have a Job to Do!

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:58 | 2 Corinthians 5:20

Because there is absolute hope in Jesus Christ, we arrive at the central question Pastor Marty posed to us on Sunday: Where has the Church been?

The world is entirely responsible for its own rebellion, but we as believers must ask ourselves hard questions. Have we been standing as bold, uncompromising ambassadors of our King? Or have we allowed ourselves to become distracted—enamored by the cheap baubles and trivial enterta

There IS Hope in Jesus!

Scripture: Romans 3:24 | Romans 5:8 | Romans 8:1

If Paul had stopped writing at Romans chapter 1, the picture would be pitch black. If he had stopped at chapter 3, all humanity would stand tight-lipped and guilty before a holy God.

BUT PRAISE GOD, ROMANS DOESN'T END IN CHAPTER 1!

As we walked through the arc of Romans on Sunday, we saw that the very same book that reveals the severe diagnosis unveils the absolute cure:

In Romans 3:

We find Justification—righteousness provided ...

Dead Nature Versus Living Hope

Scripture: Romans 8:7–8 | Jeremiah 13:23

Yesterday we looked at the diagnostic of a culture under judgment. Today, we have to address a common question believers ask: "Why are people acting so destitute of truth?"

As Pastor Marty shared on Sunday, unregenerate humanity is not merely "behaving poorly" or making bad choices—fallen man is locked in a prison of his own nature. Paul writes in Romans 8 that the carnal mind is at enmity against God; it is not subject to His law, no

Understanding the Wrath of Abandonment

Scripture: Romans 1:24, 26, 28

When we look at the rapid moral and spiritual decay in our culture, we often ask, "What is happening to our world?"

This week, we opened up Romans 1 to show us a sobering truth: our society isn't collapsing by accident, and it isn't decaying because the Gospel lost its power. When a nation continuously suppresses the truth, God doesn't need to strike it with lightning bolts. He simply steps back, removes His restraining grace, and hands society
